  1. Who is the speaker (speakers)? (These could be authors, editors, directors, etc. But think also about invited speakers. Who makes/represents/endorses this argument?)
  2. Who’s the audience? (DON’T SAY EVERYONE.) How can you tell?
  3. What’s the context or exigence here? The film was made in 2008 – why make this argument when they did? What’s going on in the world that might have prompted this argument?
  4. What’s the argument in this piece? (Or arguments? There may be multiple strands.)
  5. What rhetorical moves do you see being used? (Emotional appeals, logical appeals, ethical appeals, images, music, lighting, language choice, anecdotes, etc.)

1. The Speaker is Obama.
2. The audience is the United States of America.
3. the content is what he is going to do to help stop these acts of violence, film made in 2013, he made it when he did because it was right after the shooting occurred and it needed to be addressed.
4. The argument that we will be discussing the instance in which he hints towards the band of guns.
5. in his speech he used literally all of the rhetorical moves you listed except for lighting which there even may be an underlying tone in that.
